Tom Tit Tot: This story is about a girl who once ate her mother's pies. The mother made 5 pies and the daughter ate them all because her mother said that shall come back. The pies never came back but her mother wanted one for supper so the daughter began to sing. It just so happened the king was passing by and heard her singing but could not make out what was said. The mother sang about spinning five skeins. The king made a deal to marry the daughter and he would take care of her for 11 months out of the year but on the last month she must spin five skeins for him daily. She agreed and she lived with the king happily for 11 months and on the last month he was ready to cash in his end of the bargain. The girl was locked in a room with food and flax and had spin five skeins or she would be beheaded, but she had no idea how to spin. But then a little black thing knocked on the door to make a deal with girl. He said to her, "I'll come to your window every morning and take the flax and bring it spun at night but you have to guess my name by the end of the month or you'll be mine." The girl took the deal and the little black thing did as he said he would but she still could not guess his name. On the last night the king sat down to eat with the girl and he told her of a little black thing in the forest he had seen that day. The king had heard him singing his name so the girl had figured it out, When she told the little black thing he vanished and was never seen again.

The Rose-Tree: In this story the father had two children with two different wives. His daughter was of his first wife and of such beauty. The step mother despised the daughter. One day the step mother sent the daughter to go fetch some candles but she lost three bunches and spent all of the money given to her. The stepmother was so mad but pretended not to mind and had the girl lay down so she could comb the girl's beautiful hair the she envied her for. The stepmother sent the girl to get wood and an axe so she did. The girl laid down again without a worry and the axe came down and killed her. Then the stepmother cooked her up and served her to the family but the brother would not eat. The little boy ran outside and put his sister into a box and buried her under a rose tree and wept. One day the rose tree flowered and a white bird came and sang like heaven. A shoemaker, cobbler, and a watch maker loved the song and said if the bird sang for them they would give it some shoes, millstone, and a gold watch and chain.  The bird rattled the millstone against the leaves of three and it sounded like thunder. The boy and the father ran out to hear the thunder but from the tree dropped the shoes and chain. Next, the stepmother heard the thunder again and ran out to see if it was something for her but the millstone just dropped on her head and killed her.

The Old Woman and Her Pig: A women came across a sixpence while cleaning her house. She decided to go buy a pig but it would not go over the stile. She came across many other things that would not do what she wanted them to do. Finally she came across a cow who asked for some hay so she fetched it some hay and the the cow gave her some milk and she gave it to the cat. Then everything that she previously came across began to do as she asked and eventually the pig jumped over the stile.
